The skiing
area of Oetztal Tyrol
|
The marvellous Ötztal valley
is home to the winter holiday resorts of Sölden, Hochgurgl-Obergurgl,
Vent, Längenfelden, Umhausen and Ötz. The region has the biggest
glacial region of the Eastern Alps and the highest waterfall, the Stuibenfall.
Sölden is the main holiday resort of the Ötztal-Arena area and
is located at 1377m above sea level. In terms of area, it is the largest
municipality of Austria and offers many attractions and has an excellent
winter sports infrastructure. These skiing resorts offer guaranteed snow
until spring time. The glaciers are connected
by a tunnel called “Skitunnel” and are serviced by 33 lift facilities. To
top it all off there are more than 140 km of slopes for amazing fun and
enjoyment on the skis! |

Snowboard-fans
will love “Boarderpark” which has a Halfpipe "Giggijoch". There
is also a ski school, a “ski-kindergarden” for children from 3 years of
age and 3 cross-country ski-trails totalling 16 km in length. And what’s
more, there are 15 km of toboggan runs and the chance to experience night-skiing.
Every year at the end of October the FIS-Ski-Weltcup-Opening takes place
on the glacier. |
